NJCAA Region 23 Men's and Women's Basketball All-Tournament Teams Announced

Jackson, MISS. -- The NJCAA's Region 23 Men's and Woment's Basketball Tournament All-Tournament teams were announced following the tournament finals.
The All-Tournament honorees were selected by the head coaches of the final four teams represented in the tournament, with the champions selecting 2 honorees and a most valuable player, and the runners-up and semi-finalists selecting one player each.
Jones College's Jay Tyler (Glen Allan, Miss./Cordova) and Northwest Mississippi's Takera Bland (Memphis, Tenn./Westwood) were named Tournament MVPs. The Bobcats (17-5, 10-4 MACCC) defeated Itawamba (24-7, 13-1 MACCC) 102-96 in overtime in the men's championship round, while the Lady Rangers (23-8, 11-3 MACCC) defeated Pearl River (22-6, 13-1 MACCC) 60-55 to win the regional title. Tyler put up 24 points, with 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal to earn Tournament MVP.

The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) is one of the premier community college conferences in the country and ranks among the elite in the nation in terms of alumni on professional sports teams.
Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer and tennis.
Women's competition is offered in the sports of basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
