MACCC Baseball and Softball Players of the Week Announced
Softball Pitcher
Karley Rouse, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
(So, P - D'Iberville, 14)
Karley Rouse, a sophomore from D'Iberville, shut out No. 3 Jones 4-0 with a three-hitter, piling up 14 strikeouts in 13 innings against top-10 teams. She blanked the Bobcats for the first time this season, striking out nine. In a 4-2 loss at No. 8 Northwest Mississippi, she allowed just two earned runs in a 4-2 loss.
Softball Player
Stella Roberts, Copiah-Lincoln Community College
(Fr., C - Raymond, Mississippi, 1)
Stella Roberts was a force at the plate for the Lady Wolves as they swept a pair of nationally ranked matchups last week. The freshman from Raymond started her week going 2-for-3 with three RBIs in a game two win against the Wildcats with a three-run home run that gave the Lady Wolves the lead. Roberts then finished her week going a perfect 3-for-3 with three home runs (a three-run,. two-run, and solo home run) with six RBIs while also drawing a walk in the game to reach in all four plate appearances. For the week, she had an .833 batting average, an .857 on-base percentage, and a 2.833 slugging percentage.
Baseball Pitcher
Josh Lee, Jones College
(R-Fr, RHP - Gulfport, Miss., 10)
Josh Lee logged his fourth straight quality start in G1 vs Gulf Coast and fifth in six starts, setting new career-highs in innings pitched (8) and strikeouts (13). He improved to 6-0 on the year with the victory.
Baseball Player
Caston Thompson, Pearl River Community College
(R-So, INF - Jayess, Miss., 33)
Caston Thompson (Jayess; Brookhaven) had an incredible week at the plate, finishing 7-for-11 (.636) with three homers and a double. He drove in an incredible nine runs, scored six times and walked four times. He now leads the MACCC in batting average, home runs and RBIs after the productive week.
