Bryant Nickels named as ICC Cheer Coach
Fulton, Miss. (via LetsGoICC.com) – Itawamba Community College announced the hiring of Bryant Nickels of Pontotoc as head cheer coach on Friday.
"We're excited to add Coach Nickels as our head cheer coach," said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. "I think he will be a great addition to the ICC Family, and he will provide our student-athletes great opportunities for success."
Nickels, who comes to ICC with 15 years of coaching and choreography experience, has spent the last three years at Olympus Cheer in Pontotoc.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to lead this program," said Nickels. "I can't wait to get started and take ICC Cheer to the national level while being competitive year in and year out."
Prior to coaching, Nickels cheered for 10 years with collegiate stops at ICC, Morehead State University and the University of Mississippi.
Nickels takes over the program that finished sixth nationally at the Universal Cheer Association and Universal Dance Association Championships in January after an approximate 14-year hiatus from national competition.
He and his wife, McKenlie, have a daughter, Blakely.
Tryouts for the 2024 Cheer team will be announced soon.
